My passion for health and fitness all started when I was in high school, growing up with athletic goals and an urge to be more healthy. I remember completing body-weight circuits in my bedroom before school, listening to The Beastie Boys and telling myself, "no pain, no gain"...cringe-worthy? I know, right! But, we all start somewhere...
A lot has happened since then - I've been through school in Belfast, Northern Ireland and studied a Bachelors of Sport Science in Belfast and moved to Melbourne, Australia to complete my study. Having always been interested in the human body and a keen rugby player, I delved into the strength & conditioning world and learnt about how to improve athletic performance and how programming can be manipulated to produce different outcomes - such as fat loss, gaining muscle mass, increasing power or improving technique.
The main lesson I have had over the past years has been that TRAINING SMARTER is the key to unlocking athletic performance and body composition goals. What I mean by this is that there is no secret formula to getting results. I've personally been down the road of giving my all and getting no results and I've seen plenty of people give their full effort and fail in reaching their goals due to unstructured programming and no knowledge of how the body moves, recovers or adapts.
